Handcrafted: lost-wax casting

Many of our bronze statues are made using the lost-wax process, a traditional technique for precise, lifelike forms:

• Model and wax form: first a master model is created, from which a hollow wax form with all details is made.
• Refractory shell: the wax form is coated with heat-resistant material and cured.
• Dewaxing and casting: when heated, the wax melts out; the cavity is filled with liquid bronze.
• Demoulding and finishing: after cooling the shell is removed, surfaces are refined, cast parts welded and cleaned.
• Patination: controlled oxidation creates nuances from brown to green; finally, wax protects the surface.

Care outdoors: preserve or clean the patina

Bronze is low-maintenance. For regular cleaning, lukewarm water with a little mild soap and a soft cloth or soft brush is sufficient. Avoid scouring pads, steel wool and aggressive cleaners to protect the patina. If you want to emphasise the shine, apply an acid-free wax thinly once or twice a year and, after drying, polish gently. Remove leaves, soil or bird droppings promptly. This keeps the protective layer intact and the statue develops an even, elegant surface.

Size guide: from small to life-size

• Small up to 30 cm: decoration on a shelf, sideboard, display cabinet or as a gift.
• Medium 30 to 70 cm: accent on consoles, plinths, side tables or in a planting bed.
• Large 70 to 120 cm: eye-catcher at entrances, along paths or on terraces.
• Life-size and larger: representative sculptures for gardens, courtyards, foyers or companies.

Outdoors, figures on a pedestal appear particularly prominent; indoors we recommend calm backgrounds and directional light.
