A water feature that suits your outdoor space
Flowing water brings movement, atmosphere and a relaxing sound outdoors. A unique water feature turns an empty corner, border or terrace into a place where you love to sit. Even without a large pond you can easily create a beautiful water element in the garden.
For a compact garden, balcony or courtyard, a smaller ornament such as a water sphere, bubbling bowl or slim water column is often a great choice. Do you have more space? Then a larger water sculpture, bowl fountain or striking statue fountain really comes into its own. For a sleek and modern effect, Adezz water tables are real eye-catchers.

Standalone water feature or complete set?
With unique water features you often have the freedom to determine the setup yourself. A standalone ornament is ideal if you want to use an existing pond, water tray or reservoir, or if you want to choose the technology yourself. Browse all standalone water features for the different possibilities. Depending on the model, you will usually need a pump, hose and a water reservoir or in-ground tank.
Would you rather enjoy running water quickly? Then choose a complete water setup, for example a water feature with in-ground tank. In such sets, the ornament, pump and reservoir are generally matched to each other. That makes a complete set a practical solution for a terrace or a garden without a pond.
How a water feature with reservoir works
Many water features operate with a closed water system. The pump moves water from the reservoir up into the ornament. The water then flows back into the same tank, after which the cycle starts again. This usually means no fixed water connection is required. You will, however, need a power outlet nearby for an electric pump.
Choose the material and look that suit you
The material largely determines the look and feel of your water setup. Basalt, granite and river rock create a natural, powerful atmosphere. Marble has a luxurious, exclusive character, while concrete and cast stone fit well in both modern and rural gardens. A stainless steel waterfall provides a sleek, contemporary effect.
The water flow also makes a difference. Some models produce a gentle, rippling sound, while other ornaments create a more pronounced jet or waterfall. So think in advance about the location: in a quiet seating area, a subtle flow is often pleasant, while a larger water setup can be more present.
Practical points to consider when choosing
- Measure the available space and take into account the size of both the ornament and the reservoir.
- Decide whether you want to combine a standalone water feature or prefer a complete set.
- Check whether a power outlet is available for the pump and any LED lighting.
- Choose a pump that matches the desired head height, water jet and distance between pump and ornament.
- For heavy natural stone or marble ornaments, ensure a stable, level surface.
- Consider lighting if you also want to enjoy your water feature in the evening.

Frequently asked questions about unique water features
Can I install a water feature without a pond?
Yes, you can. With a water reservoir or in-ground tank you create a closed system without a pond. The water is collected in the reservoir and recirculated through the ornament by the pump.
Which water features are suitable for a small garden?
Water spheres, slim water columns, small bubbling bowls and compact statue fountains are good choices for a small garden, patio or balcony. Choose a model that is in proportion to the available space and ensure sufficient clearance around the ornament.
Do I always need a pump?
For an ornament with flowing or spouting water you usually need a pump. With standalone models, the pump is not always included as standard. Therefore check the product to see which parts are included and which you may still need.
How do I prepare a water feature for winter?
Switch off the pump when frost is expected, remove it from the water if possible and clean the reservoir. Ensure that water cannot freeze in vulnerable parts. The best approach can vary by material and model.
