Serpentine or soapstone from which these statues are made are soft stones that occur in various colors mainly in central Africa. Beautifully shiny, in various colours, but mostly dark grey.

These chunks of stone are worked over many hours with various tools, then sanded and polished to the correct size, shape and shine.

Unfortunately, these types of stone are only suitable for indoor use.
