  Ganesha has his elephant head due to a tragic misunderstanding. One day when Shiva (father) leaves the House, Parvati (mother) makes her son Ganesha from dander and oils. When Shiva came home, the waking Ganesha chokes him on the way. Shiva believed to do with a rival and cut off his head. Parvati was inconsolable. Servants were instructed to find a new head for the unlucky one, if necessary, from the first living creature they encountered.
